Aslan's Song by LeahJay Aslan's Song by LeahJay
Acrylic on canvas, 16" x 16"

"In the darkness something was happening at last. A voice had begun to sing...its lower notes were deep enough to be the voice of the earth herself...It was a Lion. Huge, shaggy, and bright, it stood facing the risen sun."

--from "The Magician's Nephew - The Chronicles of Narnia" by C.S. Lewis

Aslan's Song by *LeahJay is a very vibrant and delicious piece of work used with traditional media. The rest of this artist's gallery is a must-see! ( Suggested by SarlyneART and Featured by TheCreativeJenn )

First of all, wow, just wow. You did a brilliant job on this piece and congrats on the DD!

I really like how the lines in this painting are flowing and begin to spread out towards the right - it makes the mane look really grand and majestic. I also like your use of colour because the blue and red/orange contrast together well and they make the lion stand out and look 'bright' like in the book.

I think the amount of detail in this is great too - with the highlights and shadows because it adds another dimension to the painting - from a distance it looks a bit like it's popping out :) Also, it shows how Aslan is facing the 'risen sun'.

Sorry for the lower mark in originality, but I've seen a few paintings like this. Overall, I think this is a really great paiting. Aslan would be proud! :D

This is a beautifully painted picture, which I believe looks like Aslan would really start speaking.

All the details are amazing, you've added all the depth into the work and he's got a 3D look. The lines all flow really well, all of them blend and stand out in the right places. The colours you've chosen make it look like the part of the book you've chosen, facing the sun.
The patterns in the blue make it look like he's drawing in a breath to sing the next note.

I like how the main theme is Aslan and there isn't a distracting background. It gives you room to imagine.

All in all, it's a brilliant piece of work.
