"There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again" -- Elizabeth Lawrence |
My childhood was happy and full of color and imagination. Most of my current visual language comes from these fun times in my life, growing up in 1970′s California. I like to create natural scenes, animals, words/text, and people, along with a fair amount of ridiculousness thrown in.
I use watercolor, pastel, colored pencil, oil and acrylic. Though I like to wander and play, I always come back to the freedom of using various dry media over watercolor. I crumple, spatter, and pour to achieve an organic look, then paint or draw over that with careful detail. I love mixing mediums and am always on a new technical adventure…
My art influences include: Sulamith Wulfing, Brian Froud, Alphonse Mucha, Susan Seddon Boulet, Tove Jansson, and Virgil Finlay.
