For me, art is inspiration, and that inspiration comes in many guises. I channel it from my faith; I bring it from my subconscious. And most of all I find inspiration in the flow of color. I've evolved one technique which facilitates this – to apply drippy, wet watercolors and acrylics to soaking wet paper. The unpredictable nature of this process inspires me, frees my imagination and provides many opportunities for happy accident and grace to influence the resulting shapes. Over this vivid foundation, I use pastel chalks, pencils, pen, and charcoal to coax emergent forms from the mass of colors – whether traditional subjects like people, characters, and animals, or unplanned abstract adventures.

I paint and draw from the inside out. Though I work quite deliberately – consciously employing both traditional and innovative techniques – my subconscious is the undisputed project manager. In this way I strive to channel lasting emotion and energy into the finished piece.

Over time my work has evolved into something more colorful and fearless. A controlled, illustrative approach has made way for a looser, more abstract approach. My goal is to for my art to continue in this unrestrained style, in order to better project the inner awe, surrender, joy and freedom I can feel in each moment.
